Amber & The News from Upstate

James, our favorite bagpiping competitor and foodie, reports: "I got two silvers today. And midget chili dogs from Hot Dog Charlie's. It's been a productive visit to the state capitol."

And he sends these photos as proof of a) medals...

...and b) chili dogs.

Keep in mind that all of this is happening even further north than where I live.

Like, at the North Pole?

Well, since I live in "Canada," yes, I guess our state capitol has to be the North Pole. Global warming must be super bad if James is drinking a strawberry shake outside up there.

This is the very shocking thing. That isn't a strawberry shake, it's a...CHERRY shake! And the hot dogs are three inches long (that's what she said).

How was it, Jimmy? The dogs? The cherry shake?

Yum! I would try a cherry shake. I bet it would go well with bourbon.

The dogs were good, but gave me burning poops. I'm not a huge fan of the chili-dog phenom. This seems like a superior example of it, though.

The cherry shake was great. I think they have a vanilla base for all the shakes and then just pump in flavoring.

The young folks working the location were super-polite and nice.

Then I went to a Biergarten the next day for brunch. It was very scoop. I had potato pancakes, spetzel, and wurst for brunch. It was one of those place where there's peanuts on the table and you throw the shells on the floor!
